Anton and Christina’s Love Story

Hello sis! how are you doing? today is 18.02.11, which means you have officially been married for 2 months! hahah. (and be together for 6 years, correct?)

Well, here is a little belated Valentine’s gift from Melbourne, and hope that you guys love your marriage life. Sorry for the off-key, wrong tone, weird lyrics, and blah, but hope you guys like it. (and fyi, I’m just a newbie in multimedia, pardon me =D). The lyric is provided below.

[please do not comment on how not good the song is. hahah =D. I still have no idea (until now) why am I doing this video, I guess that’s the joy of having nothing to do.]

so….. enjoy =D

Love Story – Taylor Swift, edited by Jessica and Marcella Purnama

You were both young when he first saw you
You closed your eyes and the flashback starts
He’s standing there
In NTU on a summer day

Met at church, went to comcell together
See he made his way through the crowd he said hello
Little did you know

That he was Romeo he was throwing pebbles
And he always knows you’re his Juliet
He was standing by the staircase
Begging you please don’t go

And we say
Romeo take her somewhere you can be alone
She’ll be waiting all that’s left to do is run
You’ll be the prince she’ll be the princess
It’s a love story baby just say yes

In February year two thousand and five
With a piggy doll he came to your place and said hello
Little did you know

That he was romeo he was throwing pebbles
And he always knows you’re his Juliet
He was standing by the staircase
Begging you please don’t go

And we say
Romeo take her somewhere you can be alone
She’ll be waiting all that’s left to do is run
You’ll be the prince she’ll be the princess
It’s a love story baby just say yes

For five years he’s been waiting
Til’ finally God shows him the right time to say
He sings you a love song
On the ground he knelt down and pull out the ring

And he said
Marry me Juliet you never to be alone
I love you and that’s I really know
I talk to your dad go pick out a white dress
It’s a love story baby just say yes.

And he said
Marry me Juliet you never to be alone
I love you and that’s I really know
I talk to your dad go pick out a white dress
It’s a love story baby just say yes.

“Because Life is short. and enjoyable.” (cont’d)

one month of doing nothing is awesome. I got to socialise more, cook more, eat more, watch more, read more, exercise (ooopsss) more, and love more. I’m loving life. I’m enjoying life.

Enjoying life #1: friends

we hang out. we watch movies together. go to cinema. we play badminton. we jog at the beach. we wake up at 6.30am just to jog. we do sleepovers. we go for coffees. we catch up. we take pictures. we comment on our pictures. we eat. we watch horror movies. we go for a walk. we chat. we watch tennis together. we eat pizza, nandos… we go to chinese festival. we do shabu-shabu.

we are friends =).

Jogging at 7.30am at Port Melbourne

summer sunshine~

brunch at threebagsfull =)

Face painting, @chinese festival

Chinese Festival!

Enjoying life #2: movies!!! I think i’ve watched 50 movies at least during this past month. I watch 2 movies (minimum) per day, so you do the maths =D. Here’re (some) of the movies that I’ve watched:

The Ultimate Gift, The Gifted Hands, The Legend of the Fist, 14 blades, Confucious, Ip Man, My Girlfriend is an Agent, Detectives in 40 minutes, Diary of Wimpy Kid, How to Train Your Dragon, Jonah Hex, Letter to God, OngBak3, Salt, The Road, Up, Galileo, Men of Honor, Marley and Me, No Reservations, Notting Hill, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, He’s just not that into you, the Princess and the Frog, Chicago, What a girl wants, Naruto, Paranormal Activity 2, 3 idiots, the Town, Buried, Ponyo, A Dog Year, Alpha and Omega, Despicable Me, Harry Potter 6, Kick Ass, Legend of the Guardians, Life as we know it, Megamind, Red, Step up 3, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Burlesque, You Again,….. and many more. I can’t remember all LOL….

Oh yeah, surprisingly, Legend of Guardian is good. as well as Sorcerer’s Apprentice. If you haven’t watched 3 idiots and My name is khan, they are HIGHLY recommended. If you like Chinese, 14 blades is a must. do not watch buried. I end up watching it through fast-forward. Megamind is quite ok, The Road is a big NO, Jonah Hex is VERY SIMILAR with ghost rider. Most people like Red, but i dont like it. Unstoppable is awesome, Burlesque is better than Chicago, OngBak is quite weird, Confucious is super heavy, I still can’t understand the story until now. Letter to God is inspiring, Salt is ok only. Oh well, I need to stop talking about movies.

Enjoying life #3: coffee!

Well at least now I’ve tried another two of the best cafes in Melbourne: Three Bags Full and St Ali!

Three Bags Full’s breakfast was GREAT! =D and the interior was relaxing as well. highly recommended =D. The coffee was good as well, although it’s slightly too bitter for me, but now i know why it is awarded as a five-bean (one of the best) coffee in Melbourne =D.

Three Bags Full!

Three Bags Full's mocha ;) hmmmmmm =)

St. Ali’s coffee was SUPERB =D. Okay, I think St Ali’s coffee is better than threebagsfull, but it depends on your own taste as well. the chicken wing is also good as well =p. the interior is quite ok (well, basically it’s just a warehouse ;p).

St Ali's mocha =)=)

chicken wing and potato =)

Enjoying life #4: Reading and Writing

You get to read books, you get to write whatever you want, in your own time… =D either blogging, journaling, writing letters, whatever…

Enjoying life #5: cleaning the house

I still can’t believe that I’m saying this but… being a housewife for a month is not that bad. i think now i know  why women are willing to clean the house and do the house works – it’s not always because it’s the duty of a housewife, but they do it because they love the people who live in the house! (including themselves). I think they take pride on themselves when they see the house clean and presentable to anyone who happens to walk in.  =D.

Enjoying life #6: COOKING

It’s quite an interesting thing to do (cooking) =p. You are able to mix all the ingredients you want, and hoping that the dish will turn out alright, edible, and delicious =D. well, at list my sister WILL eat my cooking no matter what LOL.

Enjoying life #7: SPORT

I’ve been playing badminton for the 3rd time today! Well it’s not a ‘heavy’ game or something, so sad, but it’s better than nothing. Plus, I did cycling once (hopefully will be able to get out of bed tomorrow morning and go cycling again), and jogging twice already. Healthier? maybe. skinnier? a big NO. hahah.

Enjoying life #8: CHATTING + Facebook

LOL, it’s good to catch up with your friends while you can! you got to know various interesting stories and what’s happening in their lives right now. although most of our conversations are not that important, but oh well, socialise =D.

Soooo, life’s short, and enjoyable, right? =).

“Because life is short. and enjoyable.”

I read my sis’ latest post in her blog today. And at the end of her writing, she wrote that.

Sometimes I forgot how short life is. it is short – and yet enjoyable. The last one month that I’ve spent in Melbourne, basically doing ‘nothing’, is the month that I enjoy the most. I went to various restaurants with my Mom, I drove to Mount Dandenong and got a lil’ bit lost, I watched movies, went socialising with friends, and I can’t believe that I say this but I quite enjoy cleaning the house. Sis, I hope you’ll never read that sentence. lol

10 days – date with my Mom.

1. Birdman Eating
I brought my mom to eat here, and I hope that she likes it =D. we ordered some western dishes that she hasn’t tried before (wagyu hamburger, pork, prawns, erm, can’t really remember =D), and YES, we eat toooo much. After going here, we went to Crown to eat dessert (and TOO BAD that Greco has closed!), so we got hot chocolate instead.

2. Ladro
Since my mom has a special request (to eat the authentic pizza here, not the one like pizza hut back in Jakarta), so I decided to take her to Ladro, one of the most famous restaurant for making pizza! We ordered one pizza pastrami (6 slices, very biiiig), and one dessert (some Irish scone with ice cream). Sooooo fullllll… but it was a good dinner.

irish scone with ice cream and caramel sauce!

3. Giorgios
One of the best sticky date pudding in town is here! So we ordered two coffees (latte for mom, mocha for me), sitting outdoor at around 4 or 5 pm, and yes, enjoy our evening coffee with our superb dessert on a summer day =D. We sat there for two hours and I finally introduced my mom to my lifestyle of “ngafe-ing” in Melbourne lol. To tell u the truth, I think she quite likes it.

sticky date pudding with caramel sauce and cream =)

4. Max Brenner!

Although Jakarta has too much exotic shopping mals and such, Westfield is still the best =D. So I brought her there, we ate at the food court (kebab, i think), and looked around the shops (and bought a lot) =D. And after that, we sat down in Max Brenner! sooo… one suckao, and one waffle. YUM =p.

waffle, with banana, strawberries, ice cream, and chocolate!

say hello to suckao!=D

5. Next destination: Mt Dandenong!
Okay, I almost got lost here, but thank God, I was not! we went to Miss Marple, Pie in the Sky, and Sky High. We ordered scone, one pie, Irish tea, sundae, and bought a couple of things… well I gotta say, it was a good vacation =D. and lots of eating. the sundae we ordered in Miss Marple was extremely BIG, and it took forever for us to finish it (which we didnt, by the way). We bought some tea and couple other stuffs, and it was quite a challenge to drive to Mt Dandee, with your gps not working and your mobile on ‘no service’! =D

The mocha served in Pie in The Sky. Know Toby's Estate? =D it's quite famous in Melbourne!

Sky High!

the clouds in sky high

Miss Marple's special tea =D

miss marple's sundae... it's D.A.N.G.E.R.O.U.S =D

6. Laksa KING!
Yes, it’s the king of all laksa =D. My mom, who doesn’t like laksa, will crave for laksa king once she’s in Melbourne =D.

the famous seafood curry laksa! dangerous, not healthy, full of cholesterol, but.... EXTREMELY FANTASTIC =D

7. Menya’s Gyutandon
I think all students (well, Indonesians), just love gyutandon =D. I know I do! (and so does my mom! ;p). If you are Indonesian living in Melbourne and never try Menya’s Gyutandon, it’s located in Melbourne Central, next to Boost, and you DEFINITELY got to try it =D heheh.

quailllllllllllllll!!!!! and scallops,,, and kangkung balachan… areeee justtttttt fantastiiicc foooddd!! =D. too bad I didnt get a picture, but believe me, apart from the customer service, the food was superb =D

Okay, that was the main thing we did in Melbourne: EAT. no wonder I can’t diet, and my mom keeps on complaining to me on how all those fats are still stored in our bodies. hahaha. LOL..

Okay, so they were my first 10 days in Melbourne. Just wait for the next 20 days =D

The Ultimate Gift (2006)

rating: 3.5/5

I sneaked into my sister’s DVD collection and played this movie. And it’s good. it’s really good.

“Life is how you live it… not how you spend it.”

You probably know the saying that all men die, not all men really live. and I really think that it’s true.

The synopsis on the back of the DVD cover says,

“Jason had a very simple relationship with his impossibly wealthy Grandfather, Howard “Red” Stevens. He hated him. No heart-to-heart talks, no warm-fuzzies, just cold, hard cash. So, he figured that when Red died, the whole “reading of the will thing” would be another simple cash transaction. He assumed that his Grandfather’s money would allow him to continue living in the lifestyle to which he had become accustomed.

But what Red left him was anything but simple. Instead, Red devised a plan for Jason to experience a crash course on life: 12 tasks, 12 “gifts”, each challenging Jason in an improbable, impossible way…and changing him forever.”

Based on the best-selling novel by the author Jim Stovall, I have been blown away by the ‘gifts’ that this movie teaches me. (It took me the entire movie to finish ironing my laundry. lol). the message is simple, and I believe that most of us know these ‘gifts’, we just forgot how important they are.

Just in case you wonder what the gifts are, I will make a rough summary about the 12 gifts that’s been told in the movie

gift #1: the gift of work

“If you do any work like you just did, you can do anything.”
This gift tells us that nothing comes in instant, we need hard work to earn them.

gift #2: the gift of money

This gift tells us what money can do, and can’t do. Money can’t buy happiness, nor love, nor any other stuffs. This gift tells us that money is important, but it’s not everything. Use your money wisely.

gift #3: The gift of friends

People come, people go, but some will stay, even through the worst days of your lives. Many people are there beside us when we go through great things. But the ones who will still be there when we have problems – that is true friendship. cherish them.

gift #4: the gift of learning

“Do you really know how to learn?”
Sometimes we just know how to memorize stuffs, but rarely we go deep into the learning itself. Learning is a process. it’s not defined by the scores you get on those white A4 papers but learning is a part of your life.

I bet you all know who Michaelangelo. He is a great artist way back then, and in his last self-portrait, he carved these words, “I’m still learning.” A person who will go to his deathbed soon is still learning. we should as well.

gift #5: the gift of problems

I believe our true characters are revealed not when we are on the peak of our lives, but when we have problems, when we are desperate, when we feel like we can’t do anything. Take Job for example. He lost all his wealth, all his children, his wife sulked at him, and even his friends questioned if he has sinned to God. But Job’s true character is revealed. and you know the rest of the story.

gift #6: the gift of family

Sometimes, your real family is not a ‘family’. Sometimes those who are closest to you are your family. Nevertheless, this gift shows the importance of having a family – the people that we love, who love us back, who receive us for whoever we are, and always be there for us.

gift #7: the gift of laughter

“Laughter is the best medicine!” You know, never underestimate the power of laughter. It doesn’t only reflects the joy in your heart, it also shares that joy to other people. Laughter reflects happiness. Happiness is… priceless =)

gift #8: the gift of dreams

“You need to be free, free to dream. You need to come up with a dream and act on it.”
“And honestly I don’t know if I have my own dream, but I do know I can help others fulfill theirs.”

Like Randy Pausch said, sometimes fulfilling others’ dreams is a dream comes true for ourselves.

gift #9: the gift of giving

Once in a while, think about others, about their needs. Think about giving. Do not always focus on ourselves. give.

gift #10: the gift of gratitude

Have someone done something really meaningful to you? Say thank you. Those two simple words, are sometimes the best way to express our gratitude. Try to be thankful for our lives. Try not to say “why” on circumstances, try to say, “thank you.”

gift #11: the gift of a day

One more day. We have lived for one more day. And sometimes we just forgot, that it’s a gift! it’s always a perfect day, if you think it is. Cherish your every day, live like it is your last.

gift #12: the gift of love

I know most of you will have guessed this, the ultimate gift of all is the gift of love. And yes, love is all where it starts. Because God loves us dearly, He chose to save us. Because a father loves his family, he is willing to work hard to provide their needs. For a mother loves her children, she is willing to sacrifice her wants. and because of love, one Man is willing to die for all of us.

One movie says that, “Love is the closest thing we have to magic.” I think it’s wrong. Love is the magic itself.

So now you know your 12 gifts, but I highly encourage you to watch this movie. it’s a good one =)

Have a lovely day!

“You can teach someone what character is. You can tell them “do this! Do that” but at some point, the gifts need input, intuition, dreams. One needs to be the freedom to dream, then act on it. Even if you don’t have a dream of your own, you can give dreams to others-help them to fulfill their dreams!”
Red Stevens
